an email has been circulating...it poses serious questions!

What was that?

WDUQ just finished their fundraiser and thousands of people pledged but I sure had the feeling they were not telling me the whole story. Not that I blame them. Duquesne University chose to sell the station to a group of carpetbaggers using WYEP as a front. The scrappy, hardworking,  loyal staff of WDUQ formed a group that made an offer (higher by a half million dollars than the one accepted) but all they got was the shaft. How? Why?

Everyday during their fundraiser you could hear them get almost to the point of fully explaining how they got shafted. But they always pulled back. Good university employees to the bitter end. I think they were muzzled!

What is really going on here? Local journalism?  That’s what the mouthpiece for the carpetbaggers has said. Everyone I know who actually cares about local journalism already listens to WDUQ. Everybody! The reason is simple: the people there are very good at what they do. They already do local journalism. Lots of it!

And you know jazz is getting dumped.

The carpetbaggers and their local front (who will profit from this ugly affair) say nothing about their plans. That’s because their plans would get people angry and angry people might make a lot of noise.

How did we get here? A long standing  PITTSBURGH institution is being dismantled to serve the greed of out of state manipulators.

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO!
